Indian reservations

I have a 2001/51 Jeep Grand Cherokee. It's been a brilliant work horse but sadly is getting more and more expensive to keep on the road and the heating/air con's totally gone and I'm not sure I can bear another freezing winter. (Not to mention cost of taxing it.) I'm looking for something reasonably economical with large boot space and four wheel drive. We live in rural Scotland so need something pretty sturdy and practical. I was wondering about the Skoda Octavia Scout? It seems pretty good, although I would miss being high up - you feel very safe when driving through flooded roads (this happens a lot!). What do you think of the Scout and are there any other alternatives you'd suggest? We'd probably think to buy something a year or a bit more old.

Octavia Scouts are surprisingly good off road, but make sure you fit
winter compound mud and snow tyres for the Scottish winter.
