Should I buy a five year old car with high mileage?
I'm considering buying a 2016 Honda Jazz. It's the top of the range model with two previous owners and a full service history (mostly Honda. I viewed it online and the car seems in very good condition, however, it has done 126,000 miles. The price is £5000. The dealer is unable to say for sure if the mileage is mostly motorway but doubts that this kind of mileage can be put down to just town driving. He offered just one month's warranty. Is it a risk to buy a car of that age with such high mileage and, if so, should I buy an extended warranty? I have owned two Jazzes so I know all about their reliability and longevity.

The Honda Jazz is a very good car and there's no reason to be afraid of high-mileage models, so long as there is a comprehensive service history to show it has been well-kept. However, the dealer's one month warranty is ridiculous as it suggests there is something here that the dealer isn't telling you because he/she clearly has no confidence in the car they are selling. My advice is to walk away and find another Jazz to buy. There are lots on the used market and there is no reason to take a risk.
