I am over 70 and seek a car about Focus size. A Citroen C4 Picasso does not iron out the shocking road surfaces we have here, and the Focus, although better, does not have speed-sensitive steering, which is a must. My present C3 is not good for the bumps, neither is it insulated against road noise. The smoothness of the C5 would be ideal but its too large unfortunately. Can you please suggest a "smooth" car?

The best cars in the class for ride comfort are the current model Renault Megane and the new Vauxhall Astra on 15"wheels with 195/65 tyres. But a Focus does offer three different levels of steering assistance, selected by column stalk.
