I have a VW 1.4 Twincharger, 2 years old, which has developed a frequent slight hesitation at about 3,500 rpm when accelerating; this may be as it switches from the supercharger to the turbocharger. The main dealer can find nothing amiss on its diagnostic equipment and VW says this is normal yet it was not like that when new and it does take the edge off the performance. Any comments?

First complaint, so completely new to me. All I can suggest is switching to decent petrol (Shell V-Power) and having an oil and filter change. If you are on longlife servicing and have not yet had an oil and filter change then this is almost bound to be the problem. Your report is slightly worrying as there is currently a long wait for most VAG cars fitted with the 1.4TSI 122 engine. VW says demand exceeds supply, but I wonder if a fault has been found.
