High bread and butter

I am in the market for a new car this year and I am attracted to either the Honda Civic or the Toyota Prius. I am aware that there is a new model of the Prius. I have a budget of £22,000. My motoring is mainly A and B roads with very limited motorway driving. Which of these models would you advise, or is there another similar car that perhaps I might consider? Automatic gears are a must.

The New Prius is several stages more advanced than the Honda Insight hybrid. Orders are flowing in and they are selling like hot cakes, though there may be a problem being able to make enough. The Civic Hybrid is now yesterday's news. But the Insight is a good, cheaper compromise. They are all CVT automatic.
