I have recently returned from a holiday in France and found that many filling stations (especially Shell and Elf) are now selling Sans Plomb 95 - E10 fuel in place of the normal Sans Plomb 95. I believe that this contains 10% Ethanol which I have heard can be corrosive to pipes, fittings and tanks on some vehicles. I managed to avoid using the SP95 - E10 by using mainly Total and Carrefour filling stations. I drive a Renault Laguna 07 Reg (not the latest model). Would it be harmful to use SP95 - E10 in this vehicle? Will this practice of using 10% Ethanol be adopted in the UK.

I haven't heard it's corrosive. We use E20 95 in Thailand. 30 baht a litre instead of 40 baht for standard 95. Our car has done the last 30,000 of its 80,000 miles on it and is fine.
