Can you recommend a reliable small crossover?
After owning two Honda Civics that were bulletproof in terms of reliability, I bought a Honda HR-V new in 2016. The car has only done 29k miles but I have had problem after problem with it after the 3-year warranty expired. First, the rear brake callipers made an awful noise and Honda recommended a replacement — quoting me £1400+. After complaining, this was reduced by half as a goodwill gesture. The other problems are electrical. I've decided to replace the car now and would like a similar size car with a similar driving position. The Toyota CH-R was my favourite but rear visibility was poor. Grateful for your recommendations. Many thanks.

It might be worth waiting for the new Toyota Yaris Cross. It's a small hybrid crossover, similar in size to your HR-V, and is based on the excellent new Yaris hatchback. Orders open next month with prices expected to start from around £21,000. Being a Toyota, it's likely to be a very reliable choice, and rear visibility should be better than the C-HR (although we're yet to drive it). Alternatively, we'd recommend a Skoda Kamiq or Ford Puma.
