Me and my galls

Like me, my T reg. Mazda 626 2.0i petrol Estate is getting a bit long in the tooth and will soon need replacing. I do about 10,000 miles a year and it delivers 40-42mpg. I'm looking for another estate car, preferably petrol, but with a similar mpg. Any thoughts? I read your positive reviews about the Mondeo III but I'm not sure it will deliver a similar mpg. I don't need anything fancy, just a reliable and frugal estate.

You'll be quite lucky to average 40-42mpg out of any similar sized petrol car, but I reckon your best chance is with a new model Toyota Avensis 1.8 Valvematic SW. It's a really sweet engine. Lively, yet very economical.
