Lexible friend

I would be grateful for your advice with regard to buying a new or nearly new car I have a Lexus 300RX. Unfortunately I have recently had brain surgery and cannot now drive and probably will not be able to do so again. My wife has been driving the Lexus. She likes the high driving position and the auto gearbox but finds the car too big, especially in town. With my disability I find it much easier to get in and out of the Lexus than a conventional car. We therefore would like to buy a smaller SUV with an auto gearbox. We do not need off road capability and a 2wd would suffice. We are not keen on an MPV but if you know of conventional cars with a high driving position we would consider them. We only do about 7000miles a year - mainly on country roads with journeys of about 20 miles, but occasional motorway trips of 70 miles. I doubt if we should consider a diesel-and I have noted your comments about this.

A Ford C-Max is the easiest car I know to get in and out of. But Toyota now does its Verso MPV and its RAV-4 with Valvematic petrol
engines and excellent CVT automatic transmissions. So your Toyota/Lexus dealer should be able to help. An alternative is the funky KIA Soul 1.6 diesel automatic, but a diesel particulate filter could get clogged up using it for short runs from cold.
