On Sunday I signed to purchase a new Hyundai i20 under the scrappage deal. I was dealing with a marketing person rather than a sales person and he had to hand the order to sales on the Monday morning. I had no reason to believe there could be a problem with the purchase of the car ordered. I paid a £500 deposit. On Monday morning I spoke to the salesman and up-graded the car to a 5-door, rather than a 3-door and confirmed what documents would be required under the scrappage deal. I was aware both on Sunday and on Monday that delivery was expected September 2009. On Tuesday (today) I was advised that the quota of i20s of the type ordered had reached its limit and there were none to be purchased. I was then offered an i20 with something known as ESP at £250 extra, which is currently standard on the i30 and would be standard on an i20 shortly. Bottom line, I could cancel my order or pay the extra as the i20's with ESP? What is your considered opinion?
