Vexed demo
Why can one not take delivery of a demo model car until it is 3 months old? I have just agreed a part-exchange for a car registered 31st March 2009 but I cannot take delivery until 30th June. This does not worry me unduly as I am assured that the car will be taken out of service and stored in the dealer's compound until that date. I just wondered why this restriction?

Because the dealer's contract with the manufacturer under which he got the car cheaply demands that he remains the keeper of the car for 3 months or whatever period is stipulated. It's to prevent him getting the cars cheaply as demos then discounting them heavily and selling them straight on.
