A pothole damaged my tyre and alloy. Can I claim from the council?
I wrecked a tyre and alloy wheel on my Volvo V70 in March. The pothole was marked with a faded white line but I couldn't avoid it. I claimed but Hampshire CC have rejected my claim as they have no record of that hole. I have supportive evidence from the AA.

Sadly, you will not be able to hold the local authority liable for the pothole if they were unaware of its existence. By law, the local authority must have a system in place to check the condition of the roads. You could ask to see the council's road inspection reports - if the road wasn't checked for a lengthy period of time you may have grounds for a reclaim.
