I'm looking to buy my first car, as my 17th birthday is in a few weeks. I'm not looking to pay very much, as I'm hoping my parents will be supplying the cash. I was just wondering if a VW Beetle is a good first car for me? I have always wanted one in baby blue, simply because I saw it and liked it, but I don't know anything about cars. If not, what is a good, inexpensive first car for me to buy (probably second hand)?

A Beetle is no good at all because you can't see the corners from the driving seat so won't be able to park it. A FIAT 500 1.2 is small, cute and fun, but not a brilliant drive. A Hyundai i10 1.2 is very sensible, easy to park and excellent to drive. A Citroen C1, Peugeot 107, Toyotas Aygo, new Suzuki Alto and Nissan Pixo are all lowest tax band, lowest insurance group, very economical and okay to drive. Nissan Pixos start at £5,995 new.
