Shoulder bolster

My daughter will be 17 soon and I am starting to think about a suitable car. Due to a shoulder condition she will be limited to an automatic. I would prefer to keep the price as low as possible, but am also mindful that newer small cars are ever safer, and that by £6-7k you can get a new one. Clearly insurance costs are important, and my daughter’s main priority is that it should “look pretty”! We have had autoclutch manuals before and are not too keen on their ability to roll backwards. Our two family cars are too big and powerful to be used by a 17-year-old learner driver. What would you recommend we consider?
