I have recently been informed from Essex Trading Standards that the car dealer from whom I bought my car is under investigation for tampering with car mileage and that my car is one of the vehicles under question. I bought the car in June last year with a mileage recorded at approx. 37,000. I was informed by Essex Trading Standards that they have reason to believe the car should be recording a mileage of 148,000. Can you advise me of my position?

You can sue the garage. But if Trading Standards puts it out of business then there won't be any business to sue.
