Rack and ruin
I own a 2002, 8,000 mile 3 door Honda Civic 1.4 Vision (bought privately from a "one lady owner). It’s fully serviced, timing belt changed etc., and body in perfect condition). The electric power assistance to the steering rack has developed problems - stiff steering with no 'feel' - at normal driving speeds exactly as you describe in your car review, although the power assistance seems to work fine during parking manoeuvres. Although the lack of feedback is irritating during motorway driving I can live with it for the time being so the car is still OK to drive. Do you know if there are any companies who specialise in overhaul of Honda steering racks or will it eventually mean a replacement from Honda?
