Fight to the limit
Last week one of my heavy goods vehicles went through a Gatso style camera on the single carriageway A5 Northbound, Red Gate junction. The posted limit is 50mph and my driver has been reported for travelling at 50mph, whereas the Warwickshire 'safety' partnership says that the HGV limit there is 40. This road qualifies as a dual carriageway (defined by the DfT as a road separated by a central reservation, irrespective of the number of lanes) but the partnership is sticking to its guns. My driver will enter a not guilty at court.

Be interested in the outcome of this. I had the same dispute with an armed traffic cop in Thailand in January. Dual carriageway, separated by about 20 metres. I thought the limit was 120kmh. He said the limit was 90kmh, same as an ordinary road. He wanted 400baht (£8). He got 200baht (£4). My Thai wife said I should have kept arguing.
