Please could you explain in more detail why it should be that if R.L. of Corsham should acquire a Porsche Boxster or a BMW Z4M, he will "possibly lose his licence or even earn himself a stretch in prison". I assume you must have more information about R.L. concerning his driving record, otherwise your reply would be one of the most ridiculous that I have ever read. You seem to imply that anyone who drives one of these cars has no self control while driving and will automatically drive in excess of the posted speed limits and in a dangerous manner. If this is the case then I dread to think what your opinion is of people who drive Ferraris, Zondas, Lamborghinis and the like. You are aware that it is possible to drive one of these cars in a spirited manner within the confines of the law and still have fun, aren't you?

Take a look at www.wreckedexotics.com and you will see what happens to a significant percentage of Ferraris, Zondas, Lamborghinis and Porsches. But, back to basics, your complaint was that I did not recommend a BMW Z4M or a Porsche Boxster to a guy who wanted it as his only car to drive 5,000 miles a year to and from his golf club. Have you ever driven either of these cars? A Z4M gets all its power at the top end, none at the bottom end, has a nasty clutch, and is a pig to even attempt to drive slowly. It has feel-free steering as well. A Porsche Boxster, on the other hand, gets better and better the faster you drive it. So both of these cars are highly unsuitable for the job the reader wanted to put them to. But are highly suitable for losing your licence in this country. There are more surveillance cameras per head of population in the UK than in any other country in the world. So the only way you can safely drive cars quickly is on a track. (By 'safely' I mean the only way you can drive them quickly without losing your licence.) Get caught for serious speeding in this ludicrous country and you go to jail. 6 months inside for 150 miles an hour that could have been perfectly safe (it is on a race track, so why nor on an empty road?). Yet burglars and muggers go free. If Britain wasn't like this, I'd have a 550 Maranello (now down to £30k). But Britain is like this, so I drive a FIAT 500.
