Very britty
I just read your recent post about the sterling exchange rate. Quite right. The thing I notice is that despite the obvious intellect of some contributors they are still very "Little England" in their views. They seem incapable of looking at the bigger picture. With a nod to the lyrics, "A man hears what he wants to hear and disregards the rest.”

That's why I may occasionally appear to lose patience with them. However, they do reflect the blinkered attitude of Britons generally. WW2 knocked the stuffing out of Britain, and cost Britain most of its international investments. Now, middle-class Britons don't want their eyes opening. They would rather feel "comfortable". They are happier to believe that the government is looking after them. Newspapers, generally, support this too, preferring nonsensical smokescreens like the ridiculous issue of Prince Harry harmlessly joshing with a friend 3 years ago to continually alarming their readers with the truth.
