Can I retain a cherished reg plate if my car fails the MoT?
I have a cherished plate on my car that will shortly need an MoT. It is quite possible that it will fail and be beyond economic repair. With no MoT, would I be able to put the plate on retention in this instance?

I'm fairly sure you can apply to retain a private plate without having another vehicle to transfer it to. All the info should be here: www.gov.uk/government/publications/application-to-...r
