My wife and I are after a good car for long journeys, including touring Europe; something that we could drive 400 – 500 miles per day and still enjoy a nice meal out in a good hotel in the evening, rather than go straight to bed to recover. A soft-top would be ideal, but if that compromises the comfort for journeys, we would forgo the ‘fun’ element and go for a hard-top. We have a maximum of £50k to spend on a new car.

The Lexus IS250C is the most refined convertible in the world. It has an astonishingly smooth engine and automatic transmission. While clever aerodynamic design means it is quieter with the roof down than any other drop-top, even those costing over £200,000.Test and video: www.honestjohn.co.uk/news/road-tests/lexus/lexus-i...t
