Penalty to Arsenal
I want to enlighten your readers of a parking-ticket "scam" in the London Borough of Islington. On 10th of February I made an evening visit to see a client at Pentonville prison on the Caledonian. Counsel also attended. There is a metered parking bay directly outside the prison in which I parked. The meter showed the expiry hour for penalties as 6.30pm. When I finished my visit at 7.15pm I was surprised to see a ticket on my car, counsel’s and 2 other erstwhile legal visitors. A passer by had the solution. Arsenal was playing at home and on match days there is an extra 2 hours. This was not shown on the pay meter although was on a notice on the other side of the road. "They're always at it," a passer by said. Representations of unfairness have predictably been turned down. The "evidence" shows that the tickets on the cars were completed at 6.40. I think the wrong person was "inside".

That is the way Britain went under the Penalty Culture initiated by Gordon Brown that operates any way it can to catch people out and provide employment for the otherwise unemployable. We can only hope that things will now change.
