I would appreciate your opinion on the following: We are buying a used camper van from a small company both VWT5. We have a choice of two, identical inside, both diesel. The dearer one is a 1.9TDI 102PS reg 2008, they are asking £32,000. The other is a 2.5TDI 130 reg Dec 2005, for which they are asking £29,995. They are taking our van in part exchange, we have read your report on the 2.5 engine, but wonder if the 1.9 is a good alternative, as we feel the newer van is a better buy, but would appreciate your views. They both have low mileage of 5000 and 11,000 respectively.

That money is completely ridiculous for a 5-year-old van that was £15,000 new. It values the conversion at something like £22,000. You can almost get a new T6 California for £32,000. Or buy a new T2 Danbury 'Bay Window' from £23,000 (www.danburymotorcaravans.com)
