Sell by date
I have a date when my new FIAT Panda will be available. I told the salesman I want to know year of manufacture. His answer was there is a shortage of these cars. Please advise which of the 17 digits will give me the year of manufacture? I think it is the tenth. What number or letter will give 2009 and which number or letter will give 2010 as year of manufacture. I don't want a car that has been stuck on an airfield for 2 years, and I will check before I hand over money.

Simply check the tags on the seatbelts. The belts will not have been made more than a week before the car.
