Drip freed

I have a problem. The gasket seals on my engine have gone and my engine slowly but surely drips oil out quite rapidly leaving drips everywhere. Would my car fail its MoT for this or if there is no oil in the engine (if I put it in the mot dry so to speak)? Running an engine 'dry' of oil is bad, I know, but I have been doing so for 2,000 miles now and there is no difference. Does it really matter that much or should I just get shot of it?

Presumably this is an old car not worth the cost of replacing the leaking gaskets. I fundamentally object to anyone driving a car with a serious oil leak because oil slicks on roads kill motorcyclists. So my advice is to scrap it.
