Can I use my saved NCB after living abroad for 18 months?

I have nine years NCB up to April 2018. Normally I would be able to use this within two years on a new policy. After 18 months living abroad, I am returning to the UK and buying a car. Can I still use the NCB in this case and will it cost me more because I lived abroad?

Your no claims bonus is valid for three years, you can still use the NCB, it will not cost you more because you have lived abroad (or it should not do).
