Can I claim from the council for damage to my car from speed humps?
Can I claim from the council for damage to my car from speed humps? I have a Volkswagen Touran and after I went over a hump I heard a noise and later a message came up on the dash saying 'stop oil problem'. A while later all the oil leaked out and I had to get the car recovered. I'm out pocket by around £400.

The Golf Mk V and Touran had a notoriously low sump and this was always a problem. Though I hate speed cushions as much as you do, I always navigate them one wheel over and one wheel on the flat. Attempting to straddle them for a smoother passage is what took our your sump plug.
