Someone has abandoned a van in our parking space - how can we get it moved?

We own a flat in Edinburgh which we let. Someone has left a van in the parking place for the flat for many months. The police say they cannot do anything as it is a private car park. I do not know the owner, how can I find out?

If the vehicle has been untaxed for at least one month (you can check using the reg plate: www.gov.uk/check-vehicle-tax) and left in the same location for a significant amount of time it can be classed as abandoned and therefore removed. You can do that here: www.gov.uk/report-abandoned-vehicle

You can read more about this here: www.gov.uk/guidance/abandoned-vehicles-council-res...s

Luckily for you, maybe not so much for whoever abandoned their van, the van with the reg number you gave us has been untaxed since April 2018 and without an MoT since November 2018 - so you're within your rights to get the council to take it away.
