Does anyone have any suggestions as to what would be the best lubricant for an electric aerial. The aerial is running freely at the moment, but I would like to know for when it needs lubricating.

silicon grease. fully extend aerial and gently wipe mast with silicin grease on a soft cloth. do fairly regulary as mast assembly very expensive to replace when broke!

Silicon grease would seem to be the ideal - except, it is a dielectric and could, in theory, break the electrical connection between segments.
Having said that, if you use it sparingly you should be OK.

I think are some special tissue type 'wipes' that one can buy for this purpose at accessory shops. I guess a very small quantity of light oil (3 in 1)on a soft cloth might do or a similar small amount of WD40.

Thanks for the suggestions. I was concerned that something too 'sticky' would end up attracting dirt which might make things worse. Armitage, light oil seem a good idea.
Many thanks again!
