Just obtained this 2nd hand Mondeo. 19K Miles. My question concerns the trip computer that seems (in comparison with my previous Mazda 6), extremely sensitive.

After a longish run of about 100 miles of varied driving with the computer set at anything but "Average consumption", I switch to this reading. This reading begins to react immediately to consumption variation as though it were set to "Consumption now" (Althought not quite as sensitive).

I would have thought one would have to drive quite a way in a manner quite different from that which produced the "average" figure, to see any change? The mazda did.

When in "Consumption now", and driving on cruise control at 50mph, I can sometimes see a variation in the reading between 38mpg and 45mpg within 20yds and with no change of gradient or load.

Finally I get "hunting" at 50mph with no load and on cruise control going downhill.

How is the average consumption figure supposed to be reset? Does it do it automatically when you refuel or do you have to press a button?

In the case of the former I would suspect a duff sensor, and in the latter and sticky button!

Thanks, Oilburner. Everything works as it should and yes one can reset all readings. I really need to know if the perfomance of the Computer is as it should be.
