What a shame, one less beautiful car on the roads. I bet they're not popular with their mates, no more "toy" to play with.

Anyone ever travelled in an Italian police patrol car. I have and the driver was a bit scarey. Apart from speeding and driving far too close to the cars in front (he put on the blues and twos at one point) he was also talking on a mobile phone.

At the time we were sat in the back with neck collars on after an earlier road traffic accident. They were only giving a lift back to where the hire car had been taken to meet up with the luggage. So no need to be driving like that.

End of shift, or low doughnut alarm, (do they have doughnuts in Italy?).

ON, you're probably not far off there. After taking our statements (which took ages due to the need for a translator and us needing xtrays, stitches, CT scans etc) they waited with us. So were there in the hospital for maybe 4-5 hours. And we got visited by more senior police staff (or they did).

I still wonder how they could wait that long unless the accident was treated as fairly serious (it was) and something might happen to us still that needed them to be there (e.g. my head injury).

They only just managed to make room for us. The back seat of the car was full of boxes containing guns and ammunition! But it all fitted in the boot.

The reason I suggested end of shift was that the fastest I have ever travelled on the road was in the back of a traffic car. It was end of shift, and we were far from base. I was working with the police at the time, they were not in a rush to lock me up!

Fastest I've been in a car was probably that police car. And with the blue lights going he was fast approaching traffic that then got out of the way. Scary when I'd been in a collision with an HGV earlier that day! Started out without a seat belt on (due to neck collar) but soon fastened it!

... and all whilst he was chatting on a hand held mobile phone.
