Seems like a pointless device to me, why not just use a PC running some sort om media center SW? Maybe with an external sound card if necessary. plus a PC will run he likes of Spotify like bb points out.

I'd think it takes less electricity and may sound better. And the time to power up a PC might also be a factor.

Ripping all the CDs again would be a pain though. All of mine are already on my PC.

It would be interesting ( maybe) to compare the power consumption and sound quality of this box versus a netbook running GBPVR or Win XP MCE with an external sound card and remote. Total cost would be about the same I reckon. Looks like it doesn't have internet radio and media streaming capability via ethernet / WiFi either. Very much a one trick pony.

Having said that it looks like a good 'jukebox' solution for the PC phobic who don't mind spending the cash.

If I was after a similar 'lounge friendly' box I'd probably get a Denon DM37 and access my ripped CDs via the external USB.

Edit - I see Richer Sounds are selling the Denon for 200 notes, a good deal IMHO.

Brennan JB7 and vinyl capture - Nsar

slight thread hijack - can anyone recommend a vinyl to digital capture device?

A certain national newspaper is offering one for about £29 which looks like a phono to USB lead with a wee black box in the middle.

It breally dpends on what sort of record deck - more accurately whether it has a magnetic or ceramic cartridge.

This box looks purpose designed for teh job but is a tad expensive:-

If, on the other hand, the record deck can still be connected to a HiFi amplifier then one of these could be connected into the tape loop and do the job much cheaper:-

I've got a Marantz Dr700 as part of the hi-fi system, expensive way of doing it, but sound quality is near perfect.
