My immediate thought was the valve.
Since the whole thing has been unused for some time, you might find it improves with use as any accumulated limescale etc., gets ground down.

Its actually the opposite just now :(
It has worked great for last 4 weeks, it was only over the weekend that this has happened.
I will need to check the service paperwork to see what they did to see if this was included.

Heat from the fire may have dislodged corrosion from inside the radiators/pipework which has now circulated and is stopping the valve from closing completely.
The first thing to do is flush the system and refill. If the flush fixes the problem add some corrosion inhibitor and forget.
If the flush doesn't fix it, replace the valve.
I recently had a valve replaced which needed pipework mods because the old valve was obsolete so I called in a plumber. £40 for the valve plus £60 labour.

Sounds like diverter valve. And a pants combi-boiler...
(You are sure, aren't you, that this isn't just the excess heat following heating water being routed into the radiator? Combi boilers have a radiator attached that is permanently on, which is used as a heat sink. Only because the weather has warmed up are you noticing it again.)

Thanks for your answers, I have got an engineer coming out tomorrow so hopefully will have sorted soon.

To a lay man like me, anyone with a spanner and screwdriver is an injuneer!
As it turns out it was actually a very pleasant woman......

The companies who send people out to service things like boilers, photo-copiers, and the like tend to call their staff engineers to help justify an inflated hourly charge. As I might have mentioned before, these people, skilled and dilligent as they doubtlessly are, are not engineers. Mechanics, yes, technicians, possibly, but definitely and absolutely not engineers.
I don't blame people for following the lead of these grasping companies in mis-using the term engineer for their own ends, although I do tend to correct them from time to time! (and yes, I give the said companies a blast too if I'm asking them to do some work for me!)

I hope she's fixed it for you and done a good job!

Boiler is fixed for now but she is suggesting that it may not last many more years. Needed yet another service pack, a lot of gunge in the system, was suggesting a filter should be contemplated etc.
However we are in process of having plans drawn up for an extension and part of this would mean relocation of boiler, so would contemplate a new boiler.
Builder is suggesting a pressurised hot water system to go with a new combi boiler. I have never heard of this so will need to do some research. On the face of it it sounds like a hot water tank again which seems to take the benefit away of a combi boiler?
