I find that when I use "Reply to" my post ends up one or two down from where I expect. Which probably annoys you FT but I'm not doing it deliberatley, honest!

How can this be, I wonder? Could it be a software issue?
I'm not annoyed - your psot shows that you seem to know what you're doing & what should happen!

No. A lot of the time people are used to the layout of VBulletin and the like. It's only when you change the view of a thread from 'view flat' to 'view threaded' you can see the full picture of how and where your reply tags onto someone elses.

I sometimes have the same experience as JH - I have View Threaded in use.

I wonder how that chimes with DD's assertation, above. I "view threaded", too - however, I cannot say that I've ever had a reply stuck on the end of a thread, or placed anywhere but where expected.

FT, it's because most people 'view flat' and don't see the full picture, and as you say quite often reply right at the end instead of to the message they want to reply to. I myself 'view flat' but quite often switch to 'view threaded' (especially in this thread, Comp related, and any others where we have the PLEASE NOTE message at the top) to see that new questions are posted in the right place.
