I was obviously searching on the wrong keywords - I was looking at "merchant services" not "merchant accounts" - highlights the problems involved if you don't know what you are looking for! If you know what you are looking for, then there isn't a problem....thanks for the links, I'll follow them through.

And our bank (Charities Aid Foundation - CAF - doesn't offer any sort of useful merchant account.

Just a quick thank you for these links - as I said in my original post, if you don't know the trigger words for what you want, a search engine is useless!! I have followed them up and am contacting a few of the major UK suppliers such as Lloyds TSB, Natwest etc.
