Polo Twist 2004 1.4 squeak - mahut25

I have had the above car in the VW garage 3 times and they have finally decided that a squeak in the axle areas when moving is caused by the brakes needing deglazing (?) - not sure that is the right term. They said it could be because I brake too softly (!). They are asking £220 to do this which seems exorbitant and more like the cost of replacing them altogether. Anyone have any experience of this problem or comments on the cost ? Apparently this problem is not included in the warranty. The car is about 18 months old.

front or back of car.deglazing is when pads or shoes are used heavily causing a glaze on surface of both, wont account for price, but have they actually investigated, or this price springs to mind to charge.
Dont seem right anyway, could you please explain more on squeek problem ie where you think its coming from.when it occurs
