Either LOTS of warm water or the miraculous 1001 carpet cleaner spray - the amount of red wine (as bad as coffee, if not worse) I have removed with good old 1001 spray does not bear repeating - so far I've got away with it. It even works with red wine then the (sobering???)coffee spilt on top!!

I have no connection other than a frequent wine/coffee spiller.

I rushed out to the shops and bought some 1001 - certainly has worked very well on the second go. I just need to make sure it's fully dried before she comes home on Sunday. Even though I paid for the rug, that will not stop her blowing a gasket if it's not in it's pre-accident condition :-(

You say that you might be "in the doghouse"- do you actually have a dog which you could blame for the stain? I used to find a dog very useful at Xmas - it could be blamed for the gaeous products from sprouts!
