As Mark says, the answer is Yes.
XP automatically provides and installs the driver for a USB connection to a digital camera, memory card reader/writer etc - it treats it as a removeable drive which, in fact, is what it represents.
You merely have to plug the camera or memory card reader/writer (you can probably use one for your camera's memory card, which will save camera battery drain) into the USB port or (preferably) powered USB hub to be able to use it.

Then you will also have to download the drivers from the Sony website - only ME upwards (IIRC) has built-in drivers.
Might be worth downloading the manual as well if you haven't got one.
