'99 Vectra 2.0 DTI 16V
Right, Engine management light keeps coming on, sometimes associated with a loss of power, Almost always at speed, EMU light comes on, and powers is well down, possibly no turbo. Limp home mode.
Stopping, complete turn off, keys out, Immediate restart, all back to normal.
Light comes on, sometimes immediate loss of power, sometimes a long time but it will lose power.
Had MAF and Turbo pressure switch replaced 18 months ago.
A little confused over the reset situation.
any suggestions.

Considering buying code reader software and hardware off Ebay, anyone got any experience with these, What system does this model need, ISO?

Just an add to this, MPG has dropped from 50 to 40 with little change in driving style?

Not sure if this is any help or not, but another member here (Cyrill666) had similar problems, and he traced it to the air flow sensor.

I had a similar problem with my company Vectra diesel which I also highlighted in technical matters. I replaced the mass air sensor and more recently , the boost pressure solenoid valve.
Whilst performance improved , I am still concerned at the sluggish accelleration and would not consider the overall performance to be as good as it should be but I live with it because I do not want to throw any further money at it.

Damn, Last time the MAF and Boost pressure switch was changed it was £200. Then time the performance was not too bad until 3500 RPM but boost pressure certainly was down. That time I did disconnect the MAF totally and it drove just like now so although an easy fix, not necessarily a cheap one. Felt like i had a second engine when it was changed.
I should add that in the 18 months since the MAF was changed the car has covered some 45K miles so from what i've heard the MAF is possibly due for replacement anyway

I had this
I examined all my vacuum pipes (it's cheaper than changing bits) and saw that a pipe was sitting near the turbo and had deformed from heat, thus depriving the turbo waste-gate solenoid of vacuum.
So the ECU though the valve was nadged
Cost to fix (bit of sleeving for pipe)
£0.00

another vacuum pipe runs behind a hose on the RHS (looking back) of the engine bay. It chafes on the bulkhead
