Maybe over-cautious, but personally I would steer clear of Chinese manufactured cars.
|
A wise decision.
China has many noble traditions but engineering is not one of those, they have a lot to learn.
The rush of the Japanese manufacturers to take advantage of China's low wage economy is based upon a trust in educated higher management but fails to account for the limited skills found on the shopfloor.
|
Based on the numbers of recalls listed here:
www.theaa.com/allaboutcars/recalls/index.jsp
You should steer clear of all cars.
|
Once again though, kudos to the Japanese manufacturer.
Electric window switches?
Can you see a French manufacturer even bothering? Judging by their output a 5% failure rate on an electrical part must be seen as acceptable in France.

Does it say anywhere that the part was designed and engineered in China?
For all we know, the Japs may have provided all design and tooling for the manufacture of the switches. China just happens to be location of the production line, the same fault could be replicated if the factory was in Derby.

a friend has a '56 nissan pathfinder. it went back to the garage to have a recall repair done. she was told it was because the alternators are falling off. just checked the AA link from the post from colinh and i can't find it. only two recalls listed, propshaft problems and steering function loss. has she been told a porky by the dealer? is that legal?

Sorry couldn't resist.

"The car in front WAS a Toyota"
Until it was overtaken by the Audi sitting 3 inches from his rear bumper!
|
No Hand Signals - it's a Toyota.
